St Stephen’s Day 10 mile TT
The Western lakes CC novelty TT attracted a field of 29 riders including 2008 Olympic rider David O Loughlin.
The race was all about participation and fun and that’s exactly what we got.
No one dressed up for the fancy dress competition but that still didn’t stop people from giving the 10 mile Time Trial a real go.
Covey Wheelers turned up with a bus load of motivated participants with them all willing to be on the prize podium at the end.
This TT had a twist in that you were not allowed to wear a watch or use a Speedo and then you had to predict your time.
Some of the younger riders were predicting times that they would struggle to achieve during the summer and the older wiser riders predicting times that were a good bit of the mark but it all made for good fun
In ideal condition the first riders off came close to their predicted times with very respectable rides but the riders at the back of the field got the closest, with Joseph Marrey getting closest with 27minutes .39swconds, he predicted a time of 28mins even only 21 seconds the difference.
Western Lakes CC would like to thank all that turned up and to Mary Munroe, Martin Mc Nally and Mike Reidy for doing the timing and to Inch’s bar main St Ballinrobe for providing the refreshments
