A total of 48 riders signed on at Bohola for the season’s second Reliability Trial. Connacht Development Officer Mark Quigley said: “Riders travelled significant distances to take part and there were several new faces making an appearance. It is only through this kind of commitment that we can eventually get guys working together as a unit.
“Although the speed fluctuated at times, the average speed was 36kph which was what we had hoped for over the 80km course. We raced the last 15km approximately and although this lacked an attacking style the speed seldom dropped below 40kmph.
Now our thoughts turn to the start of the racing season. It is hoped to enter a development team into Rás Chonamara in Oughterard, Co Galway on the Easter weekend. The West Coast Wheelers open race on February 27in Craughwell will form part of a selection process for this development team. All riders with a desire to be selected are asked to attend.”
