Moycullen Bike Works and the Connemara MTB Alliance are organising a weekend of mountain biking madness at the end of the month. Saturday will see the new pump track and skills area opening in Moycullen, and there'll be an air bag to catch the big jumpers... On Sunday there's round 4 of the Connacht MTB winter league on the technical tracks in Ross Wood – there should be some good racing that day!
BUT ALSO:
As part of the plans for the Mountain Biking weekend on November 27th/28th there's coaching sessions being organised for all levels and ages of cyclists on Saturday the 27th. These will be two hour sessions and riders will be grouped according to ability. It is planned to have these in Rosscahill woods so plenty of opportunities to learn how to tackle roots, rocks and mud (and prepare for the race on Sunday). Cost will be in the region of €25 if we get full groups – we will try to subsidise some of costs for people who aren’t members of clubs (if you are a member of a club they may be willing to help support some of the costs – ask nicely!). If you don't have a bike, don't worry - there will be bikes available for hire on the day.
If you are interested, drop Orla a line (orla.baxter@gmail.com) with contact details, ability/experience level, if you need to hire a bike, and let her know if interest is for underage riders so that she can organise the groups.
Coaching will be by Niall Davis, one of Ireland’s top mountain bikers, and an experienced and well qualified coach. www.biking.ie
