Over the period 8 July 2011 to the 13 July 2011 I am organising a cycle challenge from Mizen to Malin Head. 40 cyclists will participate with the objective of raising money for Mainstay DRP*, a charity which provides facilities including accommodation and respite care for children and young adults with severe learning disabilities.
Apart from the cyclists, the event will comprise lead cars, motorbike marshals, mechanical and medical backup, sweeper vans as well as proper lunch and water-stops; there will also be Garda escorts for parts of the route.
Our route is as follows: Saturday 9 July – Mizen Head through Bantry, Kenmare, Moll’s Gap to Killarney. Sunday 10 July – Killarney to Tralee, to Tarbert to Ennistymon, County Clare. Monday 11 July – Ennistymon through Galway, to Westport. Tuesday 12 July – Westport to Ballina, to Sligo, to Bundoran. Wednesday 13 July – Bundoran to Donegal, to Letterkenny, to Buncrana, to Malin Head.
We are inviting local cyclists to join us for individual days and for a donation of 30 euros we will provide backup facilities, lunch and a commemorative t-shirt.
If any members of your club or other cyclists are interested, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can arrange to provide extra lunches etc. Contact Helen at Mainstay DRP on helen@mainstaydrp.org
