75 riders from clubs all over Connacht turned up for the first event of the 2011 Mayo league held in Ballinrobe.
The tough 60k course around Lough Mask and the cold wintery conditions took its toll on many of the riders.
In the end it was the H/cap that prevailed, the front group(made of club racers) split and 4 riders stayed away to sprint it out at the Finish, with the winner been the first rider to wear the Yellow jersey of league leader.
Michael Gilvarry of the Promoting club Western Lakes CC held of the challenge of Stephen Mullane Bottechia RC Sligo and Ger Corcoran Covey Westport to become the winner.
In the Club Competition Covey Westport 49pts held of Western Lakes CC 44pts with Castlebar CC 3rd on 15pts
The next round will be held on Thursday April the 14th in Westport, start time 7pm.
