Mayo League Press Release

Over 100 participate at Mayo cycling league.
After 2 rounds of the Mayo Cycling league to date 110 cyclist have taken part, Western Lakes, Castlebar CC, Westport Covey CC and Swinford CC are the driving forces behind the drive to get bums on bikes and in the league case racing.
Round 2 was a battle against the watch, with the front group getting a very favorable handicap a group of 14 escaped been caught by the fast finishing scratch group on the Westport to Louisburgh and back course.
U15 National Champion Liam Corcoran Castlebar fought of the efforts of Westport duo Padraig Gannon and Ray Staunton to take the win.
The scratch group was lead home by the inform David Brennan of Castlebar.
Round 3 takes place in Castlebar on April 28th where the Castlebar club will have the home advantage in more ways than one with over half of the Westport and Western Lakes riders away in Majorca on a training camp.
Michael Gilvarry winner of round one still leads the league on 25pts with Ger Corcoran Westport in joint 2nd place on 23pts with Padraic Gannon also of Covey Westport CC.
