Connacht MTB League Round 5

Tourmakeady Wood, Co.Mayo was the venue for round 5 of the Kearney Cycles.com Mountain Bike League on Sunday last in ideal weather conditions.

The course, set by Padraic Marrey was enjoyed by all the cyclists.

The underage section was not as well supported as usual, but that did not stop Shane O’Hara Kanturk from putting in a great performance in the under 12 group, his time would have him in third place in the under 14 group,

Gavin Burke Innishfree was again strong to take the under 14 age group, with Kieran Coughlan Covey 1 min down in second place.

Brendan Scullion Western Lakes was very strong in the under 16 group to take the win.

William Sheridan Covey took the junior section and Danny Maloney Covey took the vet section,

The battle of the day was between Gerry Collins Unattached and Darren McGann Westcoast Wheelers, Darren crossed the line only 15 sec ahead of Gerry in the Sports section.

Padraic Marrey Western Lakes showed his power in this type of event when he averaged 8mins 48secs for the 7 laps to take the win in the expert section.
