Connacht MTB League Round 4

The Kearney Cycles.com Connacht Mountain Bike League Round 4 was held in Cong, Co.Mayo on Sunday last in poor weather conditions making the going very heavy.

35 Cyclists signed on for this event and all enjoyed the challenging circuit set by Padraic Marrey.

Connacht Youth Cycling would like to see a lot more young people taking part in this sport, with no traffic to contend with it is a very safe way to enjoy cycling. Declan Maloney, Covey Wheelers in his second outing took the under 8 section.

Edel Burke Innishfree, C.C was again strong and took the under 12 ladies section from Lydia Sheridan Covey Wheelers.

Shane Mulchrone Covey came back to winning ways in the boys under 12 taking the win from Mark Finnerty, Western Lakes.

Gavin Burke Innishfree C.C was unlucky to break his chain just after the start

and had to retire, Chris Kennedy, Covey took the win from Francis Sheridan,Covey.

The under 16 section lost three of its number due to the heavy going, Andrew O’Hara, Kanturk, Darragh Reidy Covey Wheelers, and Diarmuid Hughes Covey Wheelers leaving Brendan Scullion Western Lakes and Stephen Clancey Kanturk

To battle it out, Scullion was the strongest to take the win.

William Sheridan Covey took the Junior section.

Padraic Marrey Western Lakes was very strong in the expert section and won with a good time gap from Colm Staunton Covey Wheelers

Darragh McShane Unattached took the sports from Garry Collins Unattached

A great ride by Padraic Conway Covey Wheelers gave him the Vets in a time that compared well with the experts group.
