Please note all races commence @ 10.30 sharp.

Carracastle, ( left turn off by - pass road and under bridge onto by - pass)

Connaught Cycling Training Races

1.Connaught Cycling Spring Training Races, all cats including U 16. Starts at 10.30 am sharp

2.Sign on at Bohola Community Centre at 10.15 am. Cost of €5 for everybody. Changing facilities and toilet facilities will be provided but there will be no showers.

3.There will be three separate groups and the race will be run on a handicap basis.

a.Group 1 will comprise of all U16 riders, Leisure riders and beginners

b.Group 2 will comprise of S3s, 1st year Juniors, Vets, Racing Ladies and experienced club cyclists

c.Group 3 will comprise of S1, S2, 2nd year Juniors and Super Vets

Daire Mooney (Eire Og Cycling Club) will cycle with Group 1 and coach this group how to race. He will appoint a second person on the day to coach Group 2.

The handicap speeds for the first race will be 19mph, 21.5mph and 24 mph for each of the three groups respectively.

It is expected that the handicap speeds for each group will increase incrementally as the series progresses. As an initial estimate the organisers will increase the speed of each group by ½ mile per hour each race, ie for the second race the speeds for each group will be 19.5 mph, 22mph and 24 mph.
