The Connacht Mountain Bike Winter League Round 3 was held in the picturesque village of Cong, Co.Mayo in ideal weather conditions on Sunday last.
The challenging track was the hard work of Padraig Marrey and Garry Collins, and the circuit of 6k was enjoyed by all the competitors, young and old.
The first race off was the elite men and this is always a very competitive section and this round was no different, Anthony Testa Westcoast Wheelers was on great form covering the 24k in a average lap time of 12.2mins, 1min behind was Michael Flanagan Western Lakes and a great performance from Garry Collins Western Lakes in third who improves with each outing.
Martin Jennings Western Lakes was the winner of the Sports, but a great performance from Norman Walsh Western Lakes who finished 2nd in his first outing, and in third
Fergal O’Neill Western Lakes who was also a new to Mountain Biking.
The Novice section was well contested by an all Connemara Mountain Bike Club members, with Terence Cunniffe taking top spot from James Martin and Aiden Perry in third.
The leading lady was Sadhbh Baxter Westcoast Wheelers.
The Junior section was won by Francis Sheridan Covey Wheelers Westport C.C
Eoin Murphy Westcoast Wheelers was second
Shane Mulchrone Covey Wheelers Westport took the Under 16 group in a very close battle with Philip Comerford, Predator, Mike Finnucane Limerick C.C in third.
Under 14, Sean Flynn Covey Wheelers Westport was very strong taking first place from Matthew O’Donnell Covey Wheelers Westport with Darren Mulloy in third.
Krystian Bednarek took the Under 12 age group in a strong finish from Joey Fox and Eoghan McArdle in third.
Under 10 Tom Fox was the winner in this group from Michael Sheridan Covey Wheelers, James Rochford in third.
Rory Collins won the under 8 age group from Owen Collins
