Brady wins National Title

Experienced Westport athlete and cyclist Noel Brady won his first National title at the National Duathlon Championships in Burnfoot, Co. Donegal on April 25th. A Duathlon comprises of running and cycling, Noel had to run 10k, cycle 40k and finish of with a 5k run and he completed the event in a time of 2.08.27 to win the Over 50’s category. This is Noel’s third big win of 2010; he won in the same category at the Days Duathlon held recently.

Noel is a prominent member of the Covey Wheelers/ Westport cycling club and is a regularly top 10 finisher at Gael force.

Derval Devaney also a member of the Westport Cycling Club, completed the event in a time of 2.14.38 and won her age category.

 Maritain Grealish from Gort, Co Clare and a member of the Western Lakes CC was 6th overall in the same event, now these 3 athletes go on to represent Ireland in the World Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh Scotland next September.
