Tri Lakes Triathlon Club would like to thank you for supporting our inaugural club event and we look forward to welcoming you to Ballinrobe in the heart of the Lake District Co Mayo.
Directions:
Ballinrobe is 44 kilometres (27 miles) North of Galway city. Follow the signs for Headford when leaving Galway. We are 28k south of Castlebar en-route to Galway.
Parking:
Parking is available at Marrey bikes on Watson’s lane (Official sign on), and also at the Green just of High street near the Castlebar road where the Transition is setup.
Registration:
Registration will open at 8.30am, and will close at 9.30am Sharp. Registration will take place at Marrey Bikes, Watson lane, Ballinrobe. If you are a Triathlon Ireland member, it is important that you bring your membership card with you, as you will have to show this at registration for insurance purposes. If you are new to the sport you don’t have to purchase a TI licence as this will be a training event.(3 event count rule)
Race Briefing:
A race briefing will be given by the Race Director at the start line at 9:45am.
Course:
The course is a 3km run, a 23km cycle, followed by a 3km run. The roads will be open to traffic, but traffic will be managed by Gardaí and by Marshalls. It is very important, however, that competitors adhere to the rules of the road.
Run:
The run is a scenic loop around the Bowers walk; most of this course is beside the river Robe and away from traffic, its nearly all pan flat. The run course is the same for both runs.
Bike:
The bike route is just 23km in length. The roads will be open, but traffic will be managed. The route is a double loop of the same course. The course is out and back on the same loop and it will be well-marshalled. The cycle route is out towards Cahir pier and back.

Transition:
Transition will take place at the Green near the soccer and rugby pitches. There will be a mount/dismount line for cyclists. Participants must adhere to instructions from Marshalls. You must put on, and secure, your bike helmet before removing your bike from the rack. Water, refreshments and some complementary massage/ physio will be available here also.
Race Rules:
Please note that, as with all other Triathlon Ireland rules, drafting rules and penalties will be implemented. Please familiarise yourself with Triathlon Ireland/ITU rules at www.triathlonireland.com if you have not already done so.
Timing and Results:
The Ballinrobe Duathlon will NOT be chip-timed, There will be a giant digital clock at the finish line. Results will be available online at www.trilakestc.com
After the Race:
Prize presentation will take place at Marrey bikes at 12noon.
