Hi Folks
Welcome to the Ballinrobe 2 day cycle race, and thanks for signing up, here's hoping that it’s a successful event for you and your team and that you enjoy your stay in Ballinrobe
Below are a few things you need to know before Race Day. Also see pamphlet attached.

Sign on from 12noon to 2pm Saturday; At registration you will receive your race number, bike number and race info pamphlet, you will have to hand in your licence, this will be returned to you after the race once you return all race numbers.

Marrey Bikes will have a small shop set up at the centre, selling basics like energy bars, powders and drinks.

Race Start Time: Assemble at the cycling centre on the Kilmaine road at 2.45pm parade through the town to Mc Hales on the Castlebar road for official start at 3pm sharp

Handicap, This will be at the discretion of the race organisation

Route Details 
Saturday 6th August, 3pm start (Martin Munroe Memorial Cup for stage winner)

Stage 1  Ballinrobe-Partry, Tourmakeady, Maire Lukes 1st KOH, Killateeaun 2nd KOH, Maam Trasna 3rd KOH, Larches, Ail Duil 4th KOH, Dangerous decent, Kilmilkeen, Maam, Maimean 5th KOH, Cornamona, right for Cong, 2miles turn Left followed by 1.5miles left followed by 1.5 miles right at Dringeen for Ballinrobe, Kilimor bridge finish on drag 1.5miles from Ballinrobe at Ferrick’s hill.

Total distance 85kms

Jersey presentation directly after the stage finish at the finish line podium, all race winners must be present. (Yellow, sprints and Polkadot jerseys plus Stage winners cup) it’s up to each rider to be aware of this.

Sunday 7th August, 9.00am start, Sign on at the line at the GAA pitch Kilmaine, reverse of GC
Stage 2A, Time Trial 8K, Kilmaine GAA pitch to Ballinrobe

Stage 2b 1pm start (Garhill Cup for stage winner)
Sign at the cycling centre from 12noon closing at 12.40sharp

Lap 1 Ballinrobe-The Neale- Cross- Glencorrib- Headford- Shrule- Kilmaine- Ballinrobe
Lap 2 the same with Finish outside the Cycling Centre on the Kilmaine Road .

Eileen Marrey Memorial Trophy for overall winner.

All riders remember it’s your responsibility to know the race route, study the maps at Sign on.

Time Limit, In line with racing in Europe we will be enforcing a time limit of 15% of the winners time on all stages, this is included to encourage positive racing.

Licences: Will be returned in exchange for your race numbers, this can be done at the cycling centre directly after the race.

Presentation of Prizes:  5pm on Main St Ballinrobe outside Inch's bar .

Showers: will be available until 4.30pm at Ballinrobe Soccer club in the Green at the bottom of Bridge St

Refreshments: will be served at Inch's bar from 4pm

Different pubs in the town are putting on after race entertainment so it promises to be a good weekend in Ballinrobe if you're planning to stay, Hotel and B&B numbers can be found on our website www.westernlakescc.com

Horse Racing: On Monday Ballinrobe has its own Galway style horse racing meeting, it’s always a great day out and a good way to relax with the family.

Ballinrobe 2 day will be a tough challenge for all and we will do our utmost that it is as enjoyable and safe as possible, please do your bit by riding safely and obeying the rules of the road.
